Meridian Technology Center and Stillwater Chamber Partner for HR Matters Series: “Decisive – How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work”
December 18, 2018

Research suggests that our decisions are disrupted by an array of irrationalities and biases: We are overconfident. We seek out information that supports us and downplay information that doesn’t. We get distracted by short-term emotions. Unfortunately, being aware of these shortcomings doesn’t fix the problem, so we have to learn how to do better.

On January 8 as part of the ongoing HR Matters series co-sponsored by the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce and Meridian Technology Center, Marcy Luter will present Decisive – How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work.

During this session, Luter will provide attendees with a helpful framework to use when making decisions. Attendees will learn a step-by-step method to widen their options, reality test their assumptions, attain some distance and prepare to be wrong. Participants will also brainstorm and discuss practical solutions to common decisions that need to be made on a daily and weekly basis.

As Coordinator of Leadership and Staff Development at Meridian Technology Center Luter works with businesses and organizations of all kinds to meet their goals through training and other educational opportunities for their greatest asset … their human resources. Her areas of expertise includes personal effectiveness and time management, playing to your strengths, communication skills and team dynamics. Marcy holds a bachelor’s in agricultural communications from Oklahoma State University, and she is a certified facilitator and trainer for FranklinCovey, Gallup’s StrengthsQuest assessment, Development Dimensions International, AchieveGlobal and Myers Briggs Type Indicator. HR Matters sessions are held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Meridian’s campus.

Registration is $15 per session and includes lunch. For more information or to register for the upcoming HR Matters series visit meridiantech.edu/HRMatters or contact Marcy Luter at marcyl@meridiantech.edu, (405) 377-3333 ext. 297 or toll-free at (888) 607-2509.
