How to Apply for Federal Financial Aid

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply for all types of financial aid. If you are an Oklahoma resident, you may also be considered for the Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG) program. This form is available beginning October 1 of each year. Federal student loans are not available for career training at Meridian. Learn more about the Department of Education’s 8 steps to filling out FAFSA.

Step 1. Apply for a FSA ID and password

If applying for FAFSA and you have not created an FSA ID and password, apply at Create FSA ID

Step 2. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

FAFSA applications can be completed online at fafsa.ed.gov. Meridian’s school code is 012474. You can find detailed, step-by-step information and tips on how to fill this out at ed.gov.

Step 3. Wait for a Response

Student Aid Reports (SARs) take approximately three weeks to process and review. You may be asked for additional documentation, so please check your email frequently.

Step 4. Award Notification

Meridian’s Financial Aid Office will send you an award notification indicating the amount of Pell Grant you are eligible to receive.

2022-2023 FAFSA

Complete your FAFSA soon after October 1, for the upcoming school year. The 2022-2023 FAFSA is now available. You will need 2020 IRS Form 1040 Tax Information. Your eligibility for Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG) depends on the first date you submit your 2022-2023 FAFSA.
