A film's set builds the world around the actors. It provides a backdrop for the plot and gives viewers a sense of emersion in the storyline. With that, set construction is critical to creating each scene. In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of what it takes to build a television or film set. This includes learning set construction terminology, set etiquette, safety as it pertains to the film industry and working with specific set construction equipment. The advanced portion of this course focuses on interpreting draft plans or conceptual art to create a stage ready for filming. No previous carpentry or film experience is required for this course. Students must complete the Introduction to the Film Industry course or similar programming before registering.

Prior film crew experience or completion of the "Introduction to the Film Industry" course is required.

Refund Policy: A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your enrollment for each class. The deposit guarantees your enrollment and is applied to your tuition. A $50 deposit is required for classes $399 and under. A $100 deposit is required for classes $400 and over. We will refund your deposit if a class is canceled. The balance of tuition is due when the first class meets and is non-refundable. Unforeseen circumstances may cause us to change the date or time of a class.
