Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or appropriate certificate of training preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Excellent professional etiquette and hospitality skills.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment with accuracy.

High level of confidentiality required.

Essential Job Functions

 

  1. Greet people who come to the office (students, prospective students, parents, etc.).

 

  1. Answer and address incoming phone calls for the Career Planning Center staff.

 

  1. Prepare requisitions for supplies and conferences as needed.

 

  1. Keep all records, prepare all reports and correspondence, and keep files up to date.

 

  1. Prepare documentation for student files.

 

  1. Provide switchboard coverage during lunch, for breaks and coverage for days off as needed.

 

  1. Update all information for the student handbooks.

 

  1. Update all information for the new student packets.

 

  1. Provide clerical support Career Planning Center staff.

 

  1. Prepare event sheets as needed for various meetings.

 

  1. Process enrollment information for high school students, full-time adult students and short-term programs into student information system.

 

  1. Perform other duties as delegated by the Executive Director of the Career Planning Center including but not limited to; the Sophomore Showcase, Discovery Day, Signing Day, new student enrollment, Parent Open House, Graduation, NTHS induction ceremony and Summer Camp events.

 

  1. Prepare and maintain event mailing lists.

 

  1. Assist Career Planning Center staff with the process for applications and program admissions for new students in full-time programs.

 

  1. Compile and submit information for National Technical Honor Society and record NTHS information in the student information system.

 

  1. Maintain, update information, and set-up for sending schools counselors’ meetings.

 

  1. Process and send weekly eligibility and quarterly grades to sending schools.

 

  1. Process transcripts and student verification requests.

 

  1. Prepare and maintain leave of absence information for students.

 

  1. Prepare and submit Frontier billing.

 

  1. Abide by all policies and procedures adopted by the MTC Board of Education.

 

  1. Promote Meridian Technology Center, its programs and employees at every available opportunity.

  1. Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Superintendent, Executive Director of Career of Planning/Career Development and Career Planning Center staff.

 

Physical Demands:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing as much as 25 pounds.

Standards of Performance

The Secretary, Career Planning Center will be evaluated on the previously listed responsibilities based on Meridian Technology Center’s Performance Review Guidelines.  These evaluations will determine salary increases and career advancement possibilities.
