Completes preventive maintenance inspections according to an established maintenance schedule. Repairs and rebuilds auxiliary equipment and assists in major overhauls of large plant equipment. Performs diagnosis on malfunctioning equipment to aid in repairs. Identifies causes of equipment failures and repetitive repairs to ensure reliability and continuity of plant operation.
Operates and tests equipment required for analysis of various plant systems and equipment.
Capable of installation, modification and upgrading of plant systems

Employee in this position is required to work 8 AM – 5PM, Monday through Friday, and to work overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays.
Work is conducted in a clean thermal plant with exposure to industrial machinery, rotating equipment, high voltage electrical service, hot steam, chemicals and noise. Occasional moving about, including ascending/descending stairs or ladders, is required to accomplish work, as well as remaining in a stationary position for an extended period of time, and working in small mechanical rooms and other maintenance activity areas.
This position requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.
Employee in this position must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.

One year of industrial mechanic work experience, preferably with rotating equipment and boilers. One year of technical education/training in a mechanical or electrical field may substitute for required experience.
Have before hire a valid driver’s license, which must be maintained during employment. A valid driver’s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned. Have or acquire within 12-months after hire an EPA Refrigerant Handler Type II certification.
Must be able to follow directions as presented by the supervisor; be computer literate; be a team player; and be capable of working independently as directed in the performance of some routine duties
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and other hours as required for the position.
$14.50/hr – $22.00/hr
