Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Oklahoma required.
Minimum of two years full-time equivalent experience practice as a registered nurse in a clinical setting preceding the first date of first employment as a nursing faculty member.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required or associate degree or diploma in nursing in this state, and has evidence of continued progress toward a baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing with completion of a minimum of six (6) semester hours per calendar year. Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Must have the ability to communicate with area healthcare agencies, current and potential student populations, and the Practical Nursing Coordinator.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing 25 pounds or more (Tables, chairs, CPR manikin, patients, hospital equipment, etc.) and/or push items weighing up to 50 pounds on a dolly or cart.
Must be able to reach, pull, bend, stoop, and kneel to use equipment in moving patients.
Must have the strength and stamina for prolonged walking, standing, and dealing with stressful situations while supervising students in the clinical setting.
Must be able to demonstrate adequate vision (or corrected vision) to read and write.
Must have fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination to operate equipment and give patient care to demonstrate nursing skills to students (insert catheters, administer medication, handle instruments, etc.)
Must be able to hear and communicate with other people in person, over the telephone, and through various electronic communication devices.
Must be able to hear, see, and feel to accurately assess, monitor, and administer care in conjunction with students.
Must be able to travel to various communities to make business and industry visits.
Work Hours:
Mondays and Wednesdays 9 am to 6 pm
Tuesdays and Thursdays 1 pm to 10 pm (evening clinicals)
Fridays 9 am to 4 pm
Must be willing to work additional evening/weekend hours as needed to meet the Practical Nursing program objectives.
The Practical Nursing Instructor will be evaluated on the previously listed responsibilities based on Meridian Technology Center’s Performance Review Guidelines. These evaluations will determine salary increases and career advancement possibilities.
Main Campus located in Stillwater, OK.
