Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repair on existing utilities distribution systems and related equipment for domestic water, heating and chilled water, steam and condensate, natural gas, and sanitary and storm sewer lines.
Perform according to industry guidelines and approved OSU standard practices the installation of various types of pipe, fittings, and related equipment/accessories on existing and new utilities distribution systems throughout the Stillwater campus (domestic water, heating and chilled water, steam and condensate, natural gas, trap lines, and sanitary and storm sewer lines).
Identify, notate, and electronically log precise data on utilities distribution assets – the locations, operational status, and maintenance records.
Employee in this position is required to be on rotating standby for emergencies and/or any other event after 4 p.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays.
Employee in this position is required to work overtime when work requires, including emergencies that may involve difficult working conditions.
Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.
Position may be exposed to high levels of dust and noise, and working around or operating hazardous equipment.
Work is outside in all types of inclement weather with exposure to extreme heat and cold.
Lifting requirement may at times exceed 100 pounds.
High School diploma/GED.
Three years of successful work experience with two of those years working in utilities distribution systems construction and/or maintenance.
Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver’s license. A valid driver’s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.
A working knowledge of plumbing and how to install systems according to standards; knowledge of various materials used in utilities distribution systems standards. Knowledge of clamps and fittings to do all types of repair on all types of piping. Knowledge of all types of pipe, i.e., PVC, poly, steel, transite, galvanized, cast iron, and ductile iron. A working knowledge of valves and how to repair them. Must work independently in the performance of routine duties.
Ability to become proficient in the use of “AiM” Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.
Must work safely and promote a safe environment.
Two years post-secondary education in the building trades or technical field and two years of successful work experience in utilities distribution systems construction and/or maintenance; or HS/GED and four years of successful work experience in utilities distribution systems construction and/or maintenance at a university or in a commercial or public utilities distribution organization
