Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Fleet Services, the Mechanic performs regular service and preventive maintenance to a wide variety of City-owned gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on all fleet vehicles and equipment (equipment includes generators, pumps, lawnmowers, or anything with moving parts, engines or motors)
B. Consults with Lead Mechanic or Superintendent of Fleet Services on complex issues.
C. Keeps maintenance records on all city vehicles and equipment.
D. Operates equipment as necessary to ensure that it is functioning properly.
E. Makes emergency roadside maintenance repairs on equipment.
F. Advises operators on technical and mechanical difficulties.
G. Installs radios and any other emergency equipment as needed.
H. Maintains limited parts stock for vehicles and equipment.
I. Uses a variety of hand and power tools.
J. Helps Superintendent entering work orders and work order data in computer systems.
K. Helps Superintendent in generating monthly reports.
L. Performs related duties as required.
A. Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and driving record must meet or surpass guidelines as set forth by the City of Guthrie.
B. Possession of a personal telephone is mandatory because the employee may be subject to call back duties during off duty hours.
C. Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
D. Some computer knowledge preferred
