Material Mover II

Primary Function

Provide labor to relocate furniture, equipment and supplies as requested by various University Departments.

Provide labor necessary to set up and take down special events staging and related equipment.

The incumbent may be required to provide their own basic hand tools and maintain them in good working condition.

Must be able to perform snow and ice removal tasks, and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of the weather conditions. Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during non-business hours which include evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and when the University is closed.

Will work outdoors in all kinds of inclement weather.

Promotional opportunities may be available through established career development plan.

May work around hazardous equipment and handle extremely heavy material.

Set-up of special events and material moving frequently requires night and weekend overtime work. Overtime work as needed.

Employee in this position is required to work overtime after 4 p.m. when work requires. Employee in this position is required to work shift work when work can’t be accomplished during regular hours, and when the Management staff deems necessary.

Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are not for personal use.

Incumbent may be required to provide their own basic hand tools and maintain them in good working condition.

Required Skills

Two years of related experience or two years post-secondary education.

Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver’s license. A valid driver’s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

Must obtain forklift certification within 90-days of hire.

The person in this position frequently communicates with customers who have inquiries regarding work and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.

Ability to become proficient in the use of “AiM” Computerized Maintenance System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.

Preferred:

High School diploma/GED with four years related experience; or two-years post-secondary education and two years of experience.

Demonstrated supervisory ability, while working independently with autonomy in decision-making.

Hours

Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Salary Range

11.30 – 13.20, Hourly
