Maintenance Technician

High School diploma or GED and valid Oklahoma driver’s license required.

Working knowledge of commercial and industrial electricity required. Working knowledge in the general operation, maintenance, repair and renovation of mechanical systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) required.

Strong background in all phases of building construction required.

Must be able to lift items weighing over 60 lbs.

Essential Job Functions


  1. Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of Meridian Technology Center’s goals and objectives.


  1. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment as needed which could include early morning, evening or weekend hours as well as perform scheduled maintenance repairs.


  1. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.


  1. Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to the Maintenance Supervisor.


  1. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.


  1. Check and maintain all inside and outside lights, including exit lights.


  1. Replace motor switches and contactors in various classrooms in the school.


  1. Maintain the chillers and classroom heaters.


  1. Maintain the overhead shop heaters and lights.


  1. Adjust heating and cooling temperatures as requested to maintain comfortable climate.


  1. Check and maintain all exhaust fans on building by replacing belts and servicing motors when needed.


  1. Keep hot water tanks lit.


  1. Check and maintain circulating pumps.


  1. Perform maintenance on the plumbing to prevent clogged drains, toilets, etc.


  1. Perform maintenance on drinking fountains to prevent leaks, and service the cooling units.


  1. Perform building maintenance and other projects such as painting, carpentry, etc. as necessary.


  1. Assist with maintaining the fire alarm and contact service provider on major malfunctions.


  1. Keep service records on maintenance equipment.


  1. Handle emergencies as they arise.


  1. Handle roofing tasks as well as underground plumbing jobs.


  1. Assist with administering the gas leak test in the summer to determine whether the piping system has developed any leaks.


  1. Abide by all policies and procedures adopted by the MTC Board of Education.

  1. Complete other tasks or projects as requested by the Superintendent, Executive Director, Planning and Operations, or the Maintenance Supervisor.


Work Hours:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM


Contract Length:

12-month position

Standards of Performance

The Maintenance Technician will be evaluated on the previously listed responsibilities based on Meridian Technology Center’s Performance Review Guidelines.  These evaluations will determine salary increases and career advancement possibilities.
