Maintenance Mechanic

Primary Function

This position is responsible for providing skilled and semi-skilled work for the College. The position requires technical expertise in several trades for the maintenance, preventive maintenance, repair, and operation of the College facilities. The facility consists of over 1,000,000 square feet of building space; all associated piping, valves, plumbing systems; control systems, etc.; all associated electrical switchgear and electrical distribution systems; all associated heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems; and the facility structure and roofing systems.This position is responsible for providing skilled and semi-skilled work for the College. Required Skills

Three (3) years work experience that includes work in at least three of the five following trades: electrical, mechanical, construction, plumbing, and heating/air conditioning/ventilation systems.

Understanding of basic systems theory and operation, including: electrical, mechanical, construction, plumbing, and heating/air conditioning/ventilation systems.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows computer operating systems.

Basic knowledge of Trane Tracer Summit energy management system (or other comparable energy management systems).

Basic knowledge of KACE Work order management software (or other comparable Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

Ability to operate a forklift.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Positive oral and written communication skills.

Good human relations skills – able to effectively and positively work with and coordinate efforts between departments and/or outside contractors.

Ability to read and understand directions, equipment instructions, operating manuals, and College procedures.

Ability to write legibly and type accurately.

Ability to perform complex filing functions.

Access to a residential or cellular telephone.

Ability, if needed, to work irregular hours.

Ability to work independently.

Hours

Monday through Thursday, 12:30 p.m – 9:00 p.m., and Friday 11:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m. or as scheduled. 2080hrs/year

Salary Range

$13.30 – $14.60
