Information Systems Technician

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in MIS or related field preferred.

Must have a minimum of two years’ experience in the areas of computer hardware and software support. Applicable training will be considered in lieu of experience.

Preferred certification areas:

  • CompTIA

Required areas of understanding:

        • Microsoft and Apple client O/S environments
        • PC based hardware/software support
        • Network printer and print server support
        • Printer maintenance and support
        • LAN/WLAN TCP/IP based network support
        • LAN cable and wiring infrastructure
        • Preparation & deployment of computer images
  • Strong knowledge of mainstream audio/visual equipment

Preferred areas of understanding:

  • Mobile device and tablet management
  • Microsoft Windows Server O/S environments
  • Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure
  • Moodle or other LMS platforms
  • Educational technology

Essential Job Functions

 

  1. Assist with installation, operation, maintenance and management of client hardware and software.

 

  1. Assist in completing and documenting Systems work order tickets in a timely manner.

 

  1. Assist end-users and guests with software, hardware, and audio/visual equipment as needed.

 

  1. Assist instructional faculty with curriculum software, hardware, and audio/visual equipment as needed.

 

  1. Coordinate maintenance and setup of campus audio/visual equipment, including LCD projectors, conference center sound system, and H.323 equipment.

 

  1. Assists with software and hardware asset management.

 

  1. Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

 

  1. Abide by all policies and procedures adopted by the Meridian Technology Center Board of Education.

 

  1. Accept other duties as may be deemed necessary by the Superintendent, Executive Director, Planning and Operations, or Information Systems Manager.

 

  1. Must be able to lift items weighing as much as 25 pounds (TVs, monitors, computers etc.) and/or push items weighing up to 50 pounds on a dolly or cart.

Standards of Performance

The Information Systems Technician will be evaluated on the previously listed responsibilities to determine satisfactory performance. These evaluations will determine salary increases and career advancement possibilities.
