Routine labor and equipment operation to support maintenance and development of the University grounds.
Perform special tasks and act as working supervisor as assigned by Zone Leader, Supervisor, or Manager.
Provide routine labor to support other Facilities Management departments as assigned.
Employee in this position is required to be on rotating standby for emergencies and/or any other event after 5 p.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays. Employee in this position is required to work overtime after 4 p.m. when work requires. Employee in this position is required to work shift work when work can’t be accomplished during regular hours, and when the Management staff deems necessary.
Must be able to perform snow and ice removal tasks, and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management; therefore, deeming you as essential personnel requiring you to come into work regardless of the weather conditions. This may require work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and when the University is closed.
Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are not for personal use.
Work outside in extreme heat and cold and during precipitation; high levels of dust; operating equipment with hazardous noise levels; handling odoriferous chemicals.
This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally
Two years grounds maintenance or related field. Ability to operate grounds maintenance related equipment.
Obtain Service Technician Certification as defined by State Department of Agriculture within one year after hire.
Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver’s license. A valid driver’s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.
Able to follow directions as presented by supervisor. Ability to operate grounds maintenance related equipment. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Job requirements include occasional use of respirator equipment. Therefore, individual is required to pass a medical exam to assure physical ability to wear, use and perform work in respirator equipment, as it applies to herbicide and insecticide application only
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and other hours as required for the position.
$10.00/hr – $11.80/hr
