Bachelor’s degree or appropriate certificate of training preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Excellent professional etiquette and hospitality skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy.

High level of confidentiality required.


Essential Job Functions


  1. Welcome, direct and provide information to visitors, students, prospective students and parents in person or on the telephone by verifying understanding of request; answering questions; offering assistance.


  1. Provides office services support for Career Counselors and Career Planning Center staff by inputting data; proofreading documents; gathering information; preparing reports; maintaining files; ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment.


  1. Prepare reports for Executive Director of Career Planning/Career Development, Counselors and Superintendent on an as needed basis.


  1. Perform duties as delegated by the Executive Director of Career Planning/ Career Development including but not limited to; preparing large mailing lists for Sophomore Showcase, Discovery Day, Signing Day, Summer Camps, New Student Enrollment and Graduation.


  1. Keep information confidential by following the employee confidentiality policy.


  1. Enroll, enter and update student information for full-time and short-term students into the student information system.


  1. Prepare student packets and update forms as needed.


  1. Maintain medical form books for office and program instructors.


  1. Process and maintain Leave of Absence forms.


  1. Coordinate the daytime Cosmetology program packets, paperwork and registration.


  1. Send out course catalogs and program information.


  1. Cover switchboard desk for lunches/breaks as needed.


  1. Reserve rooms and prepare campus event sheets as needed.


  1. Scanning and purging of inactive student files.


  1. Abide by all policies and procedures adopted by the MTC Board of Education.


  1. Promote Meridian Technology Center, its programs and employees at every available opportunity.


  1. Utilize work time efficiently between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. and report any exceptions to the Executive Director, Career Planning/Career Development.

  1. Complete other duties, tasks or projects as requested by the Executive Director, Career Planning/Career Development or Superintendent/CEO.


Physical Demands:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing as much as 25 pounds.

Standards of Performance

The Administrative Professional, Career Planning Center will be evaluated on the previously listed responsibilities based on Meridian Technology Center’s Performance Review Guidelines.  These evaluations will determine salary increases and career advancement possibilities.
