The first step to applying is to complete the application orientation. Once that is finished, you can register for a campus tour and a written interview session.

Applicants must show proof of completion of the following pre-requisite courses within the past 5 years with a grade of C or higher:

• Medical Math – with application (exempt if ACT Math is 19 or higher or HESI A2© Math Score is 80% or higher)
• Anatomy & Physiology – before starting (Course on Ed2Go is not equivalent))
• Medical Terminology – before starting (Ed2Go equivalent will require completing both “Medical Terminology: A Word Association Approach” and “Medical Terminology II: A Focus on Human Disease”)
• Long Term Care Aide with current certification or equivalent. Equivalent requires proof of working as a CNA for at least 75 hours in the last 6 months.

Meridian offers online training in Medical Math Basics, Medical Terminology, and Anatomy and Physiology. To enroll in these courses, please call the Health Occupations desk at 405.377.3333 ext. 209 or 211.

Entrance Exam – HESI A2©

All applicants must complete or submit scores of HESI A2© completed within the past three years. Meridian Technology Center does not require a specific score to apply to the program.

The Oklahoma Board of Nursing has the right, as a state licensing agency, to deny students the opportunity to take the licensing examination if they have been charged, have a pending conviction, or have been convicted of a crime which includes a felony, gross misdemeanor, or misdemeanor; or have any violations related to alcohol/or drugs. Individuals desiring to receive credit for knowledge previously gained may qualify for advanced standing.  Please contact the program coordinator for information regarding the program advanced standing policy.

Students must provide evidence of good health by submitting the Meridian Technology Center “Physical Examination Form,” which has been completed and signed by a physician or other licensed healthcare provider. Students must not have any physical restriction that would prohibit them from performing the duties expected of a healthcare worker providing patient care:

• Must be able to bend, walk, reach overhead, stand, lift carry, push and handle equipment, supplies or patients.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Must have adequate vision to read and write.
• Must have adequate hearing and be able to converse with others in person or over the phone.
• Must possess fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination.
• Must be able to handle small objects and assist physicians with sterile procedures.
• Must be able to communicate with the patient through verbal responses.
• Must be aware of patient needs and changes in conditions that can be seen and/or heard.

Students must submit evidence of current immunizations as directed; as well as current CPR certification.  The CPR certification must be American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).  Immunizations and CPR certification must remain current for the entire program.

Tuition and other expenses are subject to change. Students will provide their own transportation to the clinical education sites in various communities three to five days per week. Travel expense is probably the largest expense students will encounter.
